This piece took time to resolve and changed considerably throughout the painting process. Layers were added, removed and reworked, allowing earlier marks to remain visible alongside more deliberate areas of colour and movement.
There are loose references to floral forms throughout the work, but they remain abstract rather than defined. Dense areas of colour sit against quieter passages, creating shifts in weight and movement across the canvas.
Whispers of Tomorrow explores a period in my work where instinctive mark-making became increasingly important. Built through layered gestures, changing colour and repeated revision, the paintings hold visible traces of the decisions that shaped them.
