This work was built more openly than earlier pieces in the series. Larger areas of colour are left to breathe while translucent layers and repeated marks move around them, creating a sense of rhythm and pause. There is less covering, less correcting and more trust in what is already there.
For me, this piece marks the point where the work stopped feeling unfamiliar. The colours, shapes and decisions came more naturally, without needing to force an outcome. It felt less like inventing something new and more like recognising something that had been there all along.
‘Unscripted Language’ is a body of work built on instinct and restraint. No fixed plan, no forced marks, just layers that accumulate and dissolve, colour that speaks quietly. Each piece is a study in letting things emerge rather than making them happen.
